There are so many ski resorts in Sweden that it is almost impossible to rank all of them, so if you want to go skiing your task is not so easy, as there are many outstanding ski areas in the country. It is considered to be Scandinavia’s largest ski area regarding to the number of lifts. It offers 4 ski areas: Högfjället, Hundfjället, Lindvallen, Tandådalen. The varieties of slopes are ideal for intermediate and expert skiers as well. Salen lies at 890 meters altitude in the Dalarna region, its highest lift and ski slopes is 2500 m, with more than 75 snow cannons and 75 km ski trails. The ski resort runs from November to April and the nearest airport is Mora.
Situated in the northernmost part of Sweden, Riksgranson lies at 910 meters altitude in the Lappland. It is famous for its wonderful scenery and excellent snow conditions. The lifts go all the way up to 909 m. The resort is ideal for varied skiing, however heli- skiing and off-piste skiing are offered from April to the end of May.
The mountains of Funäsdalen are the most snow sure in the country. It turned to be the 3rd largest ski resort in Sweden. 30 lifts are available for skiers with numerous tremendous cross country terrains to explore. It is also the oldest mountain tourist center; dating back to 1882. The ski area offers slopes for beginners, intermediates and for expert skiers as well.
Situated in the central part of Sweden, Åre offers 103 runs with 40 ski lifts, children’s slopes, night skiing opportunity, snowmobile safaris, ice fall climbing and many else. The lovely village is situated at an altitude over 300 m, and the skiing area stretches all the way up to the 1420 m. In additional to the alpine pistes, Åre has more than 500 km of Nordic skiing, offering skiing for all levels and for all ages.
It is Sweden’s southernmost ski resort with 32 ski lifts and 28 km of pistes. It is a popular destination for families as it is just a half an hour from Stockholm and because it is famous for its speed skiing. It is considered to be one of the five largest resorts in the country and the first one which had quad chair and the first that offered artificial snow.
