Sweden is a country of innumerable options for entertainment, lots of tourist attractions and natural wonders. This beautiful Scandinavian country is very attractive for many tourists. There are so many things to see and to do in this majestic country that you would need to spend months here to discover all the beauty and activities offered by Sweden.

From immense cities to large natural areas including lakes, forests and rivers, from scenic coastlines to cultural landmarks, the country is abundant in colorful destinations. In my previous guides I have already presented you several aspects relating to the country and its destinations. Below I will present you the top 5 most beautiful castles in Sweden. All are majestic cultural sights to visit.

Drottningholm Castle

The majestic Drottningholm Palace is with no doubt one of the top 5 most beautiful Swedish castles. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the palace is a very important visitor attraction of the country. It is the private residence of the Royal family. The palace was built in the 16th century, being an important cultural landmark of the country. Its gardens are as attractive as the palace itself.

Trolleholm Castle

Another beautiful castle of Sweden is the Trolleholm Castle located in Scania. The castle has been known since 1424 and today it is an important tourist attraction. The castle used to be a monastic estate during the Middle Ages. The estate actually comprises more than 100 houses and occupies 5,000 hectares.

Marsvinsholm Castle

Scania has other wonderful castles, too. One such architectural jewel is the Marvinsholm Castle. It was built in the 17th century, on poles in a small lake. The building actually forms a square in four floors. The red colored castle with its gorgeous towers is with no doubt one of the most beautiful of its kind in Sweden. If you visit the southernmost area of Scania, don’t miss this castle.

Stockholm Palace

Undoubtedly one of the most majestic Swedish castles can be found in the capital city. Stockholm Palace is the major Royal palace and the official residence of the Royal family. Located on Stadsholmen, the palace is one of the main landmarks of the capital city, dragging numerous tourists each year. The Baroque palace is a beautiful architectural jewel of the city. Teleborg Castle

Last, but not least attractive is the beautiful Teleborg Castle. It is located nearby the Lake Trummen. The castle is a Middle age-style building, but it was only constructed in 1900. Today the castle hosts different conferences, representations and weddings receptions. It is absolutely worth visiting it.
