A top attraction – the Liseberg amusement park
If you visit Gothenburg with the kids, I suggest you to visit its top attraction – the Liseberg amusement park. If you like the amusement, your perfect destination is this wonderful amusement park. Liseberg is one of the Scandinavian countries’ most popular amusement parks. In 2005 the park was also considered one of the world’s top ten such visitor attractions. It is an old amusement park, opened in 1923.
The park welcomes more than 3 millions of visitors every year. The major highlights of Liseberg are of course the rides (of which the best-known is perhaps the wooden Balder). Besides, the park includes a botanical garden with beautiful waterfalls. The kids will surely love this park and will be very graceful.
About the park
As I already mentioned it, Liseberg is one of the Scandinavian countries’ most popular amusement parks. In 2005 the park was chosen one of the world’s top ten such visitor attractions. The Liseberg amusement park is situated in Gothenburg’s central part.. This wonderful park has two exits and entrances, one at Getebergsled and the other at Örgrytevagen. In the park there are many venues like dancehall, stages, restaurants, arcade hall, sport area and the Liseberg Theatre.
Of course, as other amusement parks, the highlights of Liseberg are the innumerable rides, including roller coasters, rides dedicated to the small ones, fantastic water rides and so on. The Balder roller coaster is one of the most famous rides in the world, not for its size, but the high percentage during the ride of “air-time”. Other famous ride in the park is the Kanonen ride.
This ride is very popular, it is actually a little train dedicated to 16 persons and with which can reach 72km/h, taking you to a 24m height. The Lisemergbanan is another train and it is very popular, too. The Lisebergbanan was the first of these rides in the park.
The Universum building is a popular attraction for visitors, it is an experimental work-shop with a huge aquarium inside its 8.000 sq meter building. The Arcade-games “station” is another fantastic visitor attraction. There you can test your skills and you can play with many different arcade games. The Gasten Ghost Hotel is a horror maze with actors and it opened in 1998.
If you want to visit Liseberg, you will need to know some information, including the opening times, the facilities for visitors or others. The park is open from April to September. In the first two and last months it isn’t open every day, but during summer time it is. The park is usually open from 11:00 or 13:00 until 23:00, but these hours may change depending on days or public holidays. (May 2013).
The prices vary depending on season or whether you arrive by your own or with a group. There are restaurants, bars, cafes and fast-food restaurants on the grounds of the park. Besides, you can stay at one of the park’s accommodation options including camping site, a hotel and even a hostel.
